A recent research visit to KIT focused on exchanging knowledge on automated greenhouse gas (GHG) measurement techniques and soil and water chemical analysis. The PhD student Muhammad Kamil Sardar Ali (University of Tartu) participated in an incubation experiment on nitrogen losses and use efficiency from enhanced fertilizers, gaining hands-on experience with MIRO analyzers for CO2, CH4, and N2O flux measurements, acid trap methods for NH3 volatilization, and colorimetric techniques for determining nitrogen forms. The visit also included training with advanced instruments, participation in seminars, and discussions on GHG modeling using the Landscape-DNDC model, fostering technical skills and future collaborations.
